Admissions

If you are considering a place for your child here, we would be pleased to meet you and talk about what we have to offer. If you would like to arrange a visit, please do get in touch with us by phone, email or letter.

The Clyst Vale Academy Trust is the admissions authority for our school, responsible for setting our admissions policy and making decisions when an application is made to join us. Devon County Council’s Admissions Service manages applications on our behalf. For further information or advice about the admissions process, you can call My Devon on 0345 155 1019 or visit www.devon.gov.uk/admissions.

Parents can apply for a Year 7 intake place here using their Local Authority Common Application Form (for children who live in the Devon County Council area, this is available at www.devon.gov.uk/admissionsonline or by requesting a copy of the D-CAF3 from My Devon. Applications should be made up to the national closing date of 31 October – late applications may be at a disadvantage but will be considered. Decisions are made on 1 March or the next working day if this is a weekend or holiday.

For admissions at any time after the start of the Year 7, you can apply using the D-CAF, wherever your child lives. Copies are available from My Devon.

Parents of children with an Education, Health and Care Plan can discuss school admissions with the 0-25 SEN Team of Devon County Council.

The Appeals Process

Any person who is refused admission has the right to an appeal that is independent of the school. We use the Independent Devon Admissions Appeal Panel to handle any appeals being made. For further information, please call My Devon or visit their website here.

The deadline for submitting appeals allows appellants at least 20 school days to prepare and submit a written appeal. The appeal must then be heard within 40 school days for the normal round and within 30 days for in-year admissions.

Allocation date for the normal round Year 7 intake: Wednesday 1 March 2023
Deadline for appeal forms to be submitted: Friday 31 March 2023
Appeals will be heard within 40 school days, by: Friday 16 June 2023
Where possible, appeals that are submitted after 31 March will be heard by 16 June. If that is not possible, they will be heard within 30 school days of the appeal form being submitted.
