Sixth Form Admissions

Applications for a place in our sixth form may be made online using our Post 16 Options Form. The same process applies both for current Clyst Vale students and those applying from other schools.

Students who wish to study in our sixth form must meet the academic requirements for the courses they choose. Please see our Sixth Form pages for more details.

You should read the Post-16 Prospectus carefully. Information on your termly progress reports will give you a good indication of your current/expected grades and the options open to you.

APPLICATION FORMS SHOULD BE RETURNED BY THE LAST FRIDAY IN JANUARY.

(Late applications will be considered at the discretion of the Head of Post 16.)

  1. Your application will be read by Miss Haynes (Head of Post 16).
  2. Every applicant will be offered a meeting with Miss Haynes to discuss their application.
  3. Successful applicants will receive written confirmation of course offers.

If you have any queries, please contact Sue Voysey in our Post 16 Team – who will be delighted to help.

Admissions Policies

The Appeals Process

Any person who is refused admission has the right to an appeal that is independent of the school. We use the Independent Devon Admissions Appeal Panel to handle any appeals being made. For further information, please call My Devon or visit their website here.

The deadline for submitting appeals allows appellants at least 20 school days to prepare and submit a written appeal. The appeal must then be heard within 40 school days for the normal round and within 30 days for in-year admissions.

Allocation date for the normal round Year 12 intake: 31 January 2023
Deadline for appeal forms to be submitted: 31 March 2023
Appeals will be heard within 40 school days, by: 16 June or within 30 school days if the offer of a place would have been conditional on examination results, by 13 October 2023.

Where possible, appeals that are submitted after 31 March 2023 will be heard by 16 June 2023. If that is not possible, they will be heard within 30 school days of the appeal form being submitted.
